Team ExperienceA Thank You Letter to Envirothon SupportersStanley High School Represents New Brunswick at 2009 Canon Envirothon, Asheville, North Carolina.Dear Valued Supporter It is with our sincerest gratitude that we offer appreciation of your recent donation to the Stanley High School Envirothon Team. We are pleased to share our experiences with you. This past summer we had the privilege and honour to represent the province of New Brunswick at Canon Envirothon in Asheville, North Carolina. Such a competition requires significant funds to support the necessary transportation to and from the program. Our trip got of to a rocky start with tornado warnings in Philadelphia, delays in Charlotte and an unexpected midnight road trip to Asheville. However, this only heightened our enthusiasm. We were saddened to have missed the opening ceremonies but arrived just in time for site training. During this training, we experienced the diversity of the Smoky Mountains and we studied this year's theme: Biodiversity in a Changing World and its applications to soils, aquatics, forestry and wildlife. Testing was on the following day and we are pleased to have improved our scores from the previous year. Scores may be found on the Canon Envirothon website. Oral presentations presented us with the challenge of assessing the development of a new Asheville Civic Center and its environmental implications, specifically on biological diversity. We had the pleasure to visit Biltmore House, North America's largest mansion. We literally lost ourselves in awe at the house. We also visited Smoky Mountain National Park. Above all, we met new people and made new friends. It was truly a pleasure to spend the week with a group of dedicated environmental stewards. Canon's mission is a reflection of its supporters. These supporters have provided Canon Envirothon with a glowing reputation as North America's largest environmental science competition. Only with our sincerest appreciation, do we extend this reputation to our local supporters, like you. The volunteers and financial support behind the local Envirothon teams has turned this program into something we can all be proud of. Thank you again for your support.
