Adopt-a-Highway Overview

Which Highways fall under the Adopt-a-Highway program and who is responsible?

The Department of Transportation, the Maritime Road Development Corporation (MRDC) and Brun-Way have all partnered with the Adopt-a-Highway program.

Department of Transportation Districts

  • The New Brunswick Department of Transportation is responsible for building and maintaining all public roads in areas of provincial jurisdiction. Additionally, some numbered public roads that pass through municipalities are also built and maintained by the department.

  • MRDC Operations Corporation is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Fredericton-Moncton Highway.


  • Brun-Way Highway Operations Inc. is responsible for the operation, maintenance and rehabilitation of 275 kilometres of highway from the Quebec Border to west of Fredericton, and between Woodstock and the US border.
